Renaissance Drum and Bugle Corps will be fielding in the next few seasons. The logo designs will remain here until the corps is ready to field. We will readvertise the contest at that time. Thanks to all who have submitted ideas! Keep checking back! You all are VERY creative. We see several that we like! We're pleased to announce a contest for you creative types to design a new uniform for the Renaissance Drum & Bugle Corps. Please submit your entry as a .jpg or .gif file attachment to an email to our director Chalet Harris at director@renaissancedbc.com
All entries become the property of Renaissance Foundation for the Performing Arts, Inc. and we will not be awarding any cash prizes, but we'd enjoy honoring you by name here on the website and on links at Drum Corps Planet.
 | Design 1. by Tamra, Mellophone player with Spartans |
 | Design 2. by Brian McCullock, Contra player with Spartans Hey, I just drew up an idea for your uniform design contest. Think the burgundy, black, and gold looks sharp. My name is Brian and I march Contra with the Spartans. Here are some notes about the design:
- The jacket is of an asymmetric design...the left side (of the wearer) extends down lower than the right. - the back of the jacket is burgundy. - midsection consists of a gold cummerbund - black gauntlets - Aussie should be worn in place of a shako, preferably with a gold band, and edge, with buttoned left side. A black helmet with a gold emblem and black feathered plume could also work.
This is all apparent when viewing the image. Best of luck with corps and new uniforms. |
 | Design 3. by Sam Signorelli Hi!
The basic design's actually the first Cesario I saw back in the late 80s or early 90s...here are three different color schemes (I could not draw the plume on the aussie, tho. The original was with a shako....don't know if Cesario still holds the rights to this one... Black for the main corps....white for the DM. Enjoy! Sam Signorelli (aka 84BDSop) |
 | Design 4. by Edward Luis Escobar, webmaster at Yamatodrumcorps.org First off, I have a cast on my writing hand, so the drawing and applying of colors sucks compared to what I have done in the past, but I hope you can get an understanding of what I am proposing. Because of York's history in the Revolutionary war, and your choice of the name Renaissance, I wanted to introduce a proposal of a uniform that represented that of a union soldier during America's fight for independence. The figure on the left is with colors you have requested, and the picture on the right is with my recommendation of color (the colors of York, Penn.). It's a front-open jacket with a front-buttoned gold vest and black bibs. The jacket is connected at the top with a 2-3 inch seam or zipper, or velcro, snaps, buttons, or whatever the choice may be. The collar matches the color of the trim that runs down the front of the jacket, with the trim shrinking in size as it goes down to a possible zero (or minimum) width. The back of the jacket is one color. For looks, I would add gold colored buttons to the jacket lining to give it a "real" jacket look (buttons on one side and gold designs on the other to make it look like holes for the buttons), or one similar to a soldier's uniform. |
 | "Design" 5. submitted by Michaelangelo, who originally did it for the Pope. I suspect this is not impossible to accomplish. The uniforms would be VERY comfortable, and if the materials were carefully chosen, they could stand up to the cleaning, etc. I dig the spats! and the touch of Red at the cuffs. I found a lot of pictures with the metal helmet and Plume, but they really don't seem "doable" on a budget. The battle medals would set apart the DM(s). The question becomes what to do about silks? They'd have to be really spectacular to stand out. |

 | Design 7. by Wil Mandac. Here's something I sketched up with a little inspiration from this
picture: http://www.houseofanoria.com/Doublets/Cavalier_V-laced3.jpg. |
 | Design 8. by Eric Poster. The back of the torso section would be all black. The shoulder extensions and collar would be the only things that remain burgundy.

 | Design 10. by Cainan J Cornelius. The idea behind this one is that it has the corps colors AND blue for York PA. Also, rather than going to a uniform company, these would be easy enough to be homemade at minimal cost to a new corps just trying to find their feet. |
 | Design 11. by Keith R. Veale. I march in the batterie with the Spartans Drum and Bugle Corps. I designed both a uniform design and a logo design. I might also be sending another uniform design. One, that doesn't hold to the suggestions. |
 | Design 12. by P Gissiner. Here's my idea. A simple jacket with military roots. Notes:
-The area of black at the bottom left really comes up from the front drop point of the jacket to the third button from the top. Then levels out around to the back of the uniform. -The trim at the collar, and shoulder wings may be gold or black. -The idea suggested earlier of a gold cummerbund may also be considered for this jacket. -The shako is in keeping with the military roots, though may be subsituted easily for an aussie. -Gauntlets were omitted to keep uniform parts to a minimum. Cutting cost, and creating fewer items for new members to keep track of throughout the season. Black with gold trim would make a great addition none the less.

 | Design 13. by John Phillips. Here's my thought based on the renaissance. The aussie is black with a large gold band around it. The blouse is open front with gold lacings on the front, with gold collars, wings, and cuffs. The cuffs would have buttons, or just black stitching to resemble buttons. The cumberbund would be gold with a drop down one side. White gloves are shown but black could easily be used instead. |
